2012 massPLASTICS Trade Show Postponed
massPLASTICS, the plastic industry’s largest trade show of its kind in the Northeast United States, has cancelled the event planned for this fall, October 24 – 25, 2012. “Several factors led to the decision”, stated David McKeehan, president of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce, “not the least of which is the rescheduling, this year, of the industry’s largest US exposition, NPE.” The advisory committee is presently planning the massPLASTICS event for 2013. “We’re reengineering the show and its ongoing schedule to meet the needs of today’s industry. There will be an announcement, shortly, on the new dates”, McKeehan said.
The massPLASTICS show was launched in 1989 by the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce as a means of highlighting and strengthening this major industry in the region. That first show, held in the ballroom of a Leominster hotel, attracted 30 exhibitors and about 300 visitors, and laid the groundwork for a recurring industry expo. At its peak, some 5,000 attended the event featuring 300 exhibitors at the Central Massachusetts Expo Center, in Fitchburg. “The show is highly regarded for its manageable size, relative affordability, and proven track record in creating an environment in which business deals and sales are made,” explained McKeehan. “Those are the driving objectives in planning for the 2013 massPLASTICS.
